The 21-year-old striker scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund and joins the Premier League winners as one of the most sought-after attackers in the world. He has agreed to a five-year contract with the club, which will begin on July 1st. After City invoked the player's release clause in May, a deal was made for the Norway international. "Erling possesses all of the qualities we need in a striker, and we are certain that he will thrive in this group and system." The agreement puts an end to the club's search for a replacement to Sergio Aguero, the club's all-time leading goalscorer, who joined Barcelona on a free transfer in June 2021. The Argentine's departure spurred City to pursue Tottenham and England star Harry Kane during the summer, but they were eventually unsuccessful. Real Madrid and Barcelona were also interested in signing Haaland before he chose Guardiola's English winners. In all, Haaland has 92 league goals in 121 games for Molde, Red Bull Salzburg, and Dortmund. Last season, he became the youngest player in Champions League history to score 20 goals. Haaland scored his 20th international goal in 21 appearances for Norway on Sunday, putting him 14 goals shy of being the country's all-time leading scorer.
