Thomas Tuchel has been after the Sevilla defender for the past year, after a deal for the 23-year-old fell through last summer when the two teams couldn't agree on a fee. According to Catalunya Radio, the French international is in 'advanced talks' to join the Nou Camp this summer. Barcelona is claimed to have reached a 'in principle agreement' with their LaLiga rivals, in which they would pay £51 million and send a player in the opposite direction. Barcelona is attempting to incorporate Sergino Dest, an American international who has been linked with a number of teams around Europe this summer. If Kounde joins the Catalan giants, he might team up with Andreas Christensen, who is set to leave Chelsea at the conclusion of his contract. To replace Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, who has been confirmed to move Real Madrid at the end of the month, Kounde was viewed as the main target. Gerard Pique's time at Barcelona might be up after he was reportedly told he was no longer required owing to his 'unprofessional behaviour.' Tuchel and Chelsea would be dealt a major setback as a result of the fines placed on them as a result of previous owner Roman Abramovich's actions. Tuchel wanted Kounde to play on the right side of his back three, but he also needs a new left-sided centre-back, with RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol a possible candidate. Sevilla were apparently enraged by Kounde's injury while on international duty with France, which forced him to undergo groin surgery. Although the 23-year-procedure old's is considered modest in order to correct a long-standing problem, Sevilla are furious that Kounde opted to play for France while hurt and risk jeopardizing a contract. Chelsea have inquired about Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar as a possible replacement, according to Sportsmail. The two clubs are seen to be far apart in terms of price for the 27-year-old, although Skriniar, who has appeared in 215 games since joining Inter in 2017, may become more of a priority if Kounde is sidelined for an extended period. Barcelona has also been connected with Robert Lewandowski, with Dest previously being mentioned as a possible transfer target for the Bundesliga giants.
